Pond5 Selects Adyen For Domestic and International Payments
Pond5's Restructures Entire Global Payments Operations in 17 Countries on Adyen's Platform Following Recent European Acquisition
BOSTON, June 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Adyen, the global payments solutions company, today announced that Pond5, the pioneering online marketplace for stock media and creative components, has selected Adyen as the global provider for all of its domestic and international payment needs. In addition, Adyen will help Pond5 restructure and consolidate its global payments operations.
After its March 2013 acquisition of Pixmac, a Czech Republic-based network of stock imagery sites, Pond5 found itself with operations in 17 countries and multiple payment processor relationships. Pond5 wanted to consolidate its payments operations onto a single platform, but its current payments provider could not support all of the local currencies and alternative payment methods with which its customers were accustomed. After conducting a competitive review of four global payment providers, Adyen was chosen for its ability to provide localized payment support in all markets, consolidate multiple international payment providers, and provide one, holistic view of Pond5's entire global payments operations on a single platform.
"With our recent acquisition of Pixmac, we needed a global payment solution that could support the wide variety of payment methods that our customers currently use, expand with us as we move into new markets, and give us a unified view of our global payments operations," said Dana Tower, COO of Pond5. "Right now, international payments make up nearly half of our business, and we plan on growing at a very rapid rate in the coming months. Adyen has the innovative solutions, global reach and payments expertise to support that kind of growth."
In addition to providing localized currency and alternative payment support, Adyen has assumed credit card acquiring duties for Pond5 in Europe, eliminating the complexity and cost of supporting multiple card acquiring relationships. This will also provide Pond5 with more insightful, end-to-end payments data that can help them increase transaction approvals and conversions. Additionally, Pond5 will gain access to Adyen's rich reporting capabilities, conversion analytics applications, advanced in-house risk solution, and A/B testing capabilities of its hosted payment pages.
"Accepting international payments in a highly global business like ours is a huge challenge," said Tom Bennett, co-founder and CEO of Pond5. "Adyen keeps up with the rapidly evolving payments space so that we can focus on our core business. Pond5's network of buyers and sellers of stock media is distributed around the world, and Adyen allows us to support this global marketplace with a wide array of local currencies and alternate payment methods. Plus, they've helped streamline our payments operations with integrated reporting and analytics functions that give us a comprehensive view of our global payments operations."
In 2012, Adyen processed more than $10 billion in online, mobile and point-of-sale payments transactions worldwide. The company supports 187 transaction currencies, 14 settlement currencies and 227 preferred local payment methods used on six continents, which gives consumers more payment options and helps merchants increase sales conversions by an average of 35 percent.
"Pond5's acquisition of Pixmac presented a unique challenge from a payments perspective – vaulting the company from one international site to having operations in 17 countries virtually over night," said Peter Caparso, President – Adyen North America. "Adyen has the payment solutions, knowledge and expertise to help online merchants easily expand anywhere across six continents, but we make it simple, seamless and secure enough so that merchants feel as if they're only accepting payments in their back yard."
Adyen supports payments for Pond5 in 17 different countries, with plans to expand to 20 in the near future. Currently supported countries include: The United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Russia, Slovenia, Poland, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Japan and Brazil.
