Polystar Launches Next Generation Mobile Data Service Assurance Solution

STOCKHOLM, Feb. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- (http://www.myprgenie.com) -- Polystar, a leading supplier of Service Assurance, Network Monitoring, and Test Solutions for the telecom market, today announced the launch of its next generation Mobile Data Service Assurance Solution. With this new offering, Polystar delivers true end-to-end visibility into subscribers' behaviour, device usage, service quality and performance of all mobile data networks, including LTE.

The complex ecosystem, characterised by a wide range of mobile interactive services, force network operators and service providers to proactively manage the outrageous traffic volumes and adjust their daily operations correspondingly. In recent years, Polystar has observed a major change in user behaviour and usage patterns, and has rebuilt its Mobile Data Monitoring solution to address the challenges of this ever-changing mobile data environment:

• "Always-on" behaviour, where data sessions are connected for weeks or even months;
• Smart phones driving the increase in number of transactions with constant pull & push updates;
• Traffic volumes are almost doubling year-on-year. 

The next step, which has already begun, is the migration of services into the user plane:

• Streaming services becoming part of the mobile operators' service offering;
• Messaging services moving into the data domain;
• IMS and other VoIP services starting to migrate into the data domain.

The new scalable platform will handle today's bandwidth demands, as well as support future data explosion and service migration from the circuit to the packet world.

With the introduction of release 4.6, the enhanced system architecture, specially developed to handle Mobile Data, becomes generally available. The architectural changes are general, but only applied to GTP and Diameter protocols as of now. The enhancements are summarised below:

• Persistency in that system components can keep the state of sessions on restarts, upgrades, and maintenance;
• Searchability for on-going data calls in OSIX Call Trace, both in Real Time and Historical Mode;
• Multi-protocol correlation for both on-going and closed sessions;
• Enhanced user plane troubleshooting in the Event Analyser application;
• Constant memory usage for state machines handling GTP and Diameter, making the system robust and scalable with low and predictable hardware footprint.
