Poly-Platform™ Now Available for Texas Instruments' New TMS320C665x Multicore DSPs
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- DESIGN WEST -- PolyCore Software, Inc. (PSI), leader in multicore development software, today announced Poly-Platform's™ furthered support of Texas Instruments' new TMS320C665x multicore digital signal processors (DSPs), based on the KeyStone multicore architecture. PSI's Poly-Platform addresses and simplifies the challenges that designers face in their efforts to improve performance while achieving full utilization of the processor.
Poly-Platform facilitates a significant improvement in time-to-market by allowing users to rapidly begin their development cycle, as well as the ability to make adjustments toward an optimized design with little effort. The application can be streamlined for TI's high performance TMS320C66x DSP generation of multicore processors. Scalability allows for free flowing movement of application source code across TI's TMS320C667x and C665x processors, as well as rapid transition to next generation architectures and hassle-free programming for future designs.
Poly-Platform tools merge seamlessly with TI's Code Composer Studio™ Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and DSP/BIOS™ kernel. Poly-Platform provides instant MCAPI for C66x developers and allows rapid setup and use of the EDMA3, and SRIO hardware accelerators. Setup and configuration of the accelerators is done through a simple GUI, reducing the task from a programming to a configuration effort.
TI's C665x multicore processors feature combined fixed- and floating-point capabilities, delivering real-time high performance at low power coupled with smaller form factors. With an extremely small form factor of 21mm x 21mm, the C665x DSPs enable portability, mobility and low power energy sources such as battery and interface powering to drive breakthrough products. With TI's TMS320C6654, TMS320C6655 and TMS320C6657 multicore DSPs, developers can more effectively meet vital requirements in a variety of high performance and portable applications in markets such as mission critical, industrial automation, testers, embedded vision, imaging, medical and audio and video infrastructure.
"With the support of PSI's Poly-Platform, we are providing developers with a platform to quickly adapt their application to our C665x multicore DSPs," said Ramesh Kumar, business manager, multicore processors, Texas Instruments. "Poly-Platform provides an MCAPI standard based development path for developers looking to leverage power to TI's Multicore processors with quickest time to market advantage."
"We are pleased to expand Poly-Platform coverage to include TI's C665x multicore processors, extending the instant MCAPI and rapid EDMA3 and SRIO configurability to more developers" said Sven Brehmer, president and CEO, PolyCore Software. "With the Poly-Platform standardized programming model and platform abstraction, applications can be applied across TI's C66x high performance DSPs and can more easily be reused on next generation platforms."
