Poly-Platform™ - Consistent Programming Model Across Texas Instruments' Multicore DSPs
PolyCore Software supports TI's DSPs
BURLINGAME, Calif., Nov. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Furthering its leadership in multicore communications software solutions, PolyCore Software, Inc. (PSI) today announced expanding support of Texas Instruments Incorporated's (TI) new TMS320C66x digital signal processors (DSPs) generation. Poly-Platform's unified Multicore Programming Model, in cooperation with the Multicore Association (MCA) standards, simplifies scaling of the same application across TI's C66x DSPs. In addition, Poly-Platform enabled applications currently running on TI's C64x+™ DSPs generation will be able transition to TI's C66x multicore DSPs such as the C6678 using Poly-Platform configuration tools capabilities.
Poly-Platform simplifies the programming challenges that designers address as platforms consolidate while increasing performance. The economics of time-to-market and preservation of software investment is also handled through a standardized programming model and tools that allow for rapid design cycles across TI's DSP families, and, by being fully integrated with TI's Code Composer Studio™ software and DSP/BIOS.
Working together, TI's C66x DSPs and Poly-Platform features increase multicore entitlement, allowing for full utilization of the processor. Poly-Messenger/MCAPI improves run time performance by utilizing TI accelerators, enabling the most efficient method for communications. With Poly-Platform, customers can begin developing on TI multicore DSPs using currently available TI simulators and EVMs.
"A simplified, scalable and reusable programming model are key factors in successful multicore migration," said Ted Gribb, vice president, sales, PolyCore Software. "Poly-Platform and MCAPI provide a tools-assisted, standardized and scalable multicore programming model for TI's DSPs. We are excited to extend Poly-Platform support to TI's new C66x family, enabling developers to rapidly take full advantage of its additional functionality and higher performance levels."
"By supporting current generation devices, PolyCore Software customers will enjoy an ease of migration to the next generation," said Sandeep Kumar, manager, multicore growth markets, TI. "Additionally, with TI's support for standard based (MCAPI) programming models customers will reap the benefits of an increased performance."
