Politics Comes to The Cable Show: Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to Speak on Tuesday; Leading Political Strategists to Discuss 2012 Elections and Beyond
WASHINGTON, May 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) announced today that Chicago's newly inaugurated mayor, Rahm Emanuel, will speak at the opening General Session of The Cable Show 2011, NCTA's 60th Annual Convention and International Exposition, June 14-16 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Mayor Emanuel will appear on Tuesday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m. in the North Hall.
NCTA also released the lineup for a featured panel at The Cable Show's General Session on Wednesday, June 15. With cable providing an important platform for campaign advertising and political coverage, and with the 2012 election season already underway, two of America's top presidential campaign strategists will provide their outlook on the national political landscape with a focus on cable's highly valued advertising platform. The panel will include:
- David Axelrod, Senior Adviser to President Barack Obama (2009-2011).
- Ed Gillespie, former counselor to President George W. Bush and former Chairman of the Republican National Committee.
Moderating the discussion will be Candy Crowley, CNN's award-winning chief political correspondent and anchor of State of the Union with Candy Crowley, a political hour of newsmaker interviews and analysis of the week's most important issues.
