Political Action Arm of National Taxpayer Group Endorses Sharron Angle for Senate
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Silver State residents hoping to retire the tax-and-spend regime in Washington, D.C. face an important decision: ditch Harry Reid by casting a ballot for Sharron Angle, according to the National Taxpayers Union Campaign Fund (NTUCF), the political action arm of the 362,000-member National Taxpayers Union (NTU). Today NTUCF announced it would support Angle for U.S. Senate in Nevada.
"Sharron Angle is a true champion for taxpayers with a proven record of resisting attacks on Nevadans' wallets," said NTUCF President Duane Parde. "Just as Angle was a leader for limited government in the Nevada Legislature, she would be a tremendous asset to taxpayers in the 112th Congress."
"Angle led the fight for significant property tax limitations in Nevada and taxpayers can look forward to the same dedication in the U.S. Senate," Parde added. He noted that in returning his group's Survey of Congressional Candidates, Angle pledged to fundamentally reform the Tax Code, limit entitlement spending, and end the abusive practice of earmarking. "These promises are refreshing and admirable at a time when fiscal discipline in Congress is so low," Parde said.
Angle's opponent, however, has led the Senate during the worst-ever expansion of government deficit spending. As Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid strongly supported the "stimulus" bill, government-run health care, and many other pieces of budget-busting legislation. Furthermore, National Taxpayers Union's Rating of Congress, based on every roll call vote affecting fiscal policy, shows that Reid has a terrible record. Since NTU began issuing grades associated with Rating Scores (in 1992), Reid has earned 17 "Fs" and one "D."
"Time and again Sharron Angle has a stood up for taxpayers, in stark contrast to Harry Reid's love of logrolling and pork barreling," Parde concluded. "Nevada residents should rest assured knowing that Angle sides with taxpayers, not special interests and party bosses. Electing her would be a boon not just for Nevadans but taxpayers across the country as well."
Note: NTUCF is the political action arm of the National Taxpayers Union (NTU), the nation's oldest grassroots taxpayer organization. NTU, founded in 1969, created the NTU Campaign Fund in 1994. NTUCF's endorsement decisions require a unanimous vote on a nonpartisan basis by a four-member committee.
