Police Officers To Stake Out Dunkin' Donuts Rooftops To Support Special Olympics Wisconsin, Friday, August 16
MILWAUKEE, Aug. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Law enforcement officers throughout the state will stake out Dunkin' Donuts rooftops to benefit Special Olympics Wisconsin, on Friday, August 16, beginning at 6 a.m. through 11 a.m.
That morning, for the second year in a row, dedicated police officers are scheduled to cover 20 Dunkin' Donuts rooftops to heighten awareness and raise money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) benefiting Special Olympics Wisconsin. Dunkin' Donuts in Madison, Milwaukee, Appleton and other parts of Wisconsin will participate.
In return for the police officers "doing time" at their restaurants, Dunkin' Donuts will donate $5,000 to LETR. In addition, each guest who visits a Cop on a Rooftop location that day and makes a donation to the Torch Run will receive a Free Medium Hot or Iced Coffee coupon.
Last year, Wisconsin police officers raised nearly $14,000 from atop 13 Dunkin' Donuts rooftops for Special Olympics Wisconsin.
When asked why she supports Special Olympics Wisconsin, Specialist Niki Nelson, of the Waukesha Police Department and long-time Law Enforcement Torch Run participant, says, "My answer to them is simple and rephrased in a question...'Have you ever spent time with an athlete?' Once you do, you can't stop. They are truly amazing!" Nelson will hit the DD rooftop in Waukesha for the second year in a row.
Special Olympics Wisconsin provides year-round training and competition opportunities through 17 different Olympic-type sports for nearly 10,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities.
