Polaroid Eyewear Features Premium 3D Product Line at CES 2011
Polaroid Premium 3D Glasses demoed with Television Displays for the First Time to Showcase in-the-Home Experience
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Polaroid Eyewear, a division of StyleMark AG and world leader in optics and lens technology, today began first-ever demonstrations of its 3D eyewear line with television displays at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
Originally launched in July 2010, Polaroid Eyewear distributed its RealD-certified Polaroid Premium 3D Eyewear line to movie theaters and cinemas, opticians and other retail channels through its global network of subsidiaries and distributors. The premier demonstrations of 3D in the home at CES will provide attendees the experience of using the Polaroid line of 3D glasses with TV displays that feature "passive" or "circular polarized" 3D technology.
Current 3D TVs in the market employ "active" 3-D technology, which require special shutter 3D glasses with batteries or cables connected to the display. The new generation of 3D televisions, many of which are set to be unveiled this week at CES, will use the circular 3D technology similar to 3D theatrical releases. This type of 3D technology is expected to become the standard for gaming systems and PCs.
The Polaroid line of 3D glasses features circular polarized technology embedded within a premium curved circular polarized 3D lens, meeting the need for the circular polarized or passive 3D systems at an affordable price point.
"The premium curved lenses used in our products are made with our unique Thermofusion technology, guaranteeing a perfect 3D experience," said Paul Sheerin, Vice President of Global Operations for Polaroid Eyewear.
Jerry Dreifuss, Global Marketing Manager at Polaroid Eyewear added, "We are excited to showcase our 3D eyewear line so that consumers can experience 3D within the home, without needing to be tethered to their displays or constantly changing batteries. Our eyewear features circular technology, delivering high quality, affordable 3D viewing in the home, providing style and comfort to avid 3D fans."
The demonstrations, held from January 6-9, 2011 (booth # 13616), feature a selection of adult and junior 3D, RealD certified, premium curved lens glasses and special styles that fit perfectly over prescription glasses, including multiple color variations , which Polaroid Eyewear is demoing with 3D televisions sets to simulate a true in-the-home 3D experience. Polaroid Eyewear is also featuring non-3D fashion eyewear including their unique 2011 collection and a selection of eyewear from the Polaroid Best Under the Sun Collection, which showcases modern day reproductions of historical Polaroid sunglasses from the 1930s through the 1980s.
The first generation of Polaroid Premium 3D Eyewear featured at CES 2011, online and in select movie theaters, is available in nine adult styles, two children's styles and three covers for optical. Polaroid Eyewear has plans to package an offering of two-, three-, and four-pair packs, single options and a four-pair family pack. The first generation of 3D glasses and covers for optical frames are currently available for purchase in select movie theaters and online at www.polaroid-eyewearstore.com.
