Polaroid Announces Collaboration With Visionary Photographer and Director Chase Jarvis
World's Most Followed Photographer Kicks Off Collaboration With Announcement at the Polaroid CES Booth
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Polaroid today announced a milestone in its legacy of supporting artistry through a strategic and long-term relationship with acclaimed visual artist Chase Jarvis. A long-time fan of the iconic Polaroid brand, Jarvis will be applying his unique artistry to create and curate original content, as well as advise on product endeavors for Polaroid. The relationship, announced at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), will kick off at the Polaroid booth with an inspiring presentation by Jarvis on Friday, January 7, at 10:30 a.m. PST in the Las Vegas Convention Center's Central Hall, #13616. In support of new Polaroid product announcements at the show, Jarvis will share his vision with Polaroid fans and photographers, discussing creative collaboration and sharing content in both the physical and digital worlds.
"Like Polaroid, I believe in supporting fellow photographers and artists of all backgrounds and styles to pursue their dreams of creative expression," said Chase Jarvis. "My work is largely centered on popular culture, with emphasis on visual responsiveness to the moment, immediacy, and sharing one's vision with the world. Polaroid has long been a pioneer in this realm. It's an honor to be included in the legendary lineage of Polaroid artists and to now play a key role in shaping the brand's evolution into the digital world."
Similar to Polaroid's mission to deliver instant fun, Jarvis is famous for his creative and inspirational vision, and is widely recognized for his examination and interpretation of art and popular culture through still and moving pictures. In addition to his artwork, Jarvis' creative talent and passions extend to his social networks, highly-acclaimed books and his award-winning mobile photography app, Best Camera, which has made its way to numerous "Top 20 Apps" lists worldwide.
"Central to Polaroid is the importance of creative expression, and we seek that not only in our products and approach to innovation, but also in the people who help carry our message through the Made In Polaroid movement," said Scott W. Hardy, President, Polaroid. "We strive to develop new, fresh offerings that inspire people. Through partnering with Chase, we are continuing to foster two important elements of our brand – creativity and inspiration."
A highlight of CES, Jarvis' presentation will focus on his recent work, today's new era of creativity and the democratization of that creativity throughout the world. Jarvis' work and his unique approach to storytelling will inspire all, from advanced artists to novice photographers. The session will be broadcast live from CES on www.polaroid.com and facebook.com/polaroid.
Jarvis' session follows Polaroid's announcement of the new Polaroid Grey Label product line. The line reflects the mission of Polaroid and Lady Gaga to deliver products that enable creativity for all, celebrate artistry and make sharing instantaneous across the physical and digital. The inaugural Polaroid Grey Label line includes the GL10 Instant Mobile Printer, available in May, to be followed later in the year by the GL30 Instant Digital Camera and GL20 Camera Glasses.
