Polar Now Connects with Apple HealthKit and Google Fit
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., Nov. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Polar, the leader in heart rate sensors, activity trackers and wearable sports technology, announced connectivity with two of the world's leading health and fitness platforms: Apple HealthKit and Google Fit. This is the latest example of Polar's ongoing work to bring new ways to enrich the use of Polar products with innovative fitness and wellbeing.
Currently, Polar Beat training and exercising app for Android can connect with Google Fit. Polar's Flow app for iOS, which provides even deeper insights into your training, will follow by connecting with Apple HealthKit, and therefore Apple's Health app. Both platforms enable developers to combine data from multiple sources seamlessly, opening the door to new and exciting ways for you to better understand information about your health and fitness data.
If you train with Polar, you'll already be familiar with the rich information and guidance you get, as well as the way that data is used to coach you toward training smarter. Now, if you're an iOS 8 or Android user, you can share all Polar data that is supported by Apple and Google into your Apple Health and Google Fit dashboards. For Google Fit, this compatibility will display which sport / activity you've done, duration of exercise, distance, calories burned and heart rate zone information. In addition to these features displayed, the Polar Flow app for Apple HealthKit will also include daily steps from activity.
"Polar Flow – the web service and app – gathers data on the activities you love and guides you to improve over time," said Herb Baer, President, Polar USA. "Polar Beat is another effective, inspiring training companion. So it's only natural for us to pair our services with Google Fit and Apple HealthKit – both are one-stop ecosystems for everything health and fitness. Syncing our services to theirs will bring the trademark accuracy we're known for, and we know our users will value this connectivity."
