CLEARWATER, Fla., Oct. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- On October 10, 2016, PODS Enterprises, LLC entered into a settlement agreement with U-Haul International, Inc., that requires U-Haul to pay PODS $41.4 million to PODS, concluding a lengthy trademark lawsuit.
The terms of the settlement uphold the rulings of the United States Federal District Court that (i) confirm the fame, validity and enforceability of the PODS trademark, and (ii) maintain the permanent injunction against U-Haul regarding any improper use of the PODS trademark.
"As the brand leader in the portable moving and storage industry, PODS has worked diligently to promote our nationally recognized trademark," stated Aaron B. Parker, PODS' Senior Vice President, General Counsel. "We consider the PODS trademark to be one of our most valuable assets and will continue to vigorously defend it with all means at our disposal."
This is the third time PODS has successfully defended its trademark through the federal judicial system. In each case, it has resulted in the defendants ceasing and desisting from the improper use of the PODS trademark. "We are pleased with the outcome of this successful litigation against U-Haul and view it as a strong victory on behalf of our brand."
