PMC Receives 2012 CCBJ Project Merit Award
Firm Recognized for Groundbreaking Work Reducing Energy Costs and Usage
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- PMC is proud to announce that it has been chosen by the Climate Change Business Journal® (CCBJ) to receive the 2012 award for Project Merit in Energy Efficiency. PMC was recognized for its groundbreaking work with the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG) and Southern California Edison to develop regional energy efficiency climate action plans (EECAPs) for 27 cities in the San Gabriel Valley.
"We started with a series of community and stakeholder outreach workshops including 35 meetings and presentations and conducted 1,839 individual energy action surveys," said Tammy Seale, PMC Principal. "PMC then assessed and compared energy trends and energy efficiency opportunities on a regional scale."
By 2020, the EECAPs will create 409 Million kWh in annual savings for residents with the average household reducing its energy usage by 16%. This will save San Gabriel residents an estimated $160 annually. Additionally, businesses and municipal agencies will save 673 million kWh.
The 15-month project culminated with a September regional climate change conference, led by PMC and the SGVCOG. The participating cities shared strategies and lessons learned and discussed how to facilitate implementation and collaboration on a regional scale. The project was funded by SCE ratepayers through a surcharge for the California Long-term Energy Efficiency Strategic Plan.
CCBJ is a business research publication which provides strategic business intelligence to the climate change industry, has honored 34 companies for business achievement in revenue growth, smart grid & energy management, low carbon & renewable power, energy efficiency innovation, renewable energy integration, climate change adaptation projects, NGO activity, and more.
