PlayOn Launches the First Ever Cloud-Based Streaming Video Recorder for Android
Users can now record streaming videos in the cloud and download them to their Android or iOS device, PC, or Mac for ad-free offline viewing.
SEATTLE, May 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- MediaMall Technologies Inc. today announced the launch of its PlayOn Cloud app for Android, which joins the iOS app that launched last year. PlayOn Cloud empowers users to record and download any movie or TV show from the 12 most popular streaming services to watch offline on any device.
In addition to launching the PlayOn Cloud Android App, PlayOn is also announcing a significant price reduction. Technological advances have enabled PlayOn to reduce the cost of a Cloud recording from 99 cents to 40 cents – a 60% reduction. PlayOn will sell recordings in packs of 5, 10, and 20 as in-app purchases for both Android and iOS.
PlayOn Cloud is a first-of-its-kind cloud-based Streaming Video Recorder that allows users to initiate recordings directly from their mobile device. PlayOn immediately creates the recording in the cloud and keeps it there for 30 days in the customer's own personal cloud locker. Users can download recordings to their mobile devices, PC or Mac to watch anytime, anywhere. And with PlayOn's AdSkip technology, users can watch recordings while automatically skipping over commercials.
"By offering PlayOn Cloud for both Android and iOS devices and by significantly reducing the cost of recordings, we are affordably offering the ultimate streaming experience — the ability to watch any streaming movie or show anytime, on any device — without worrying about blowing up your data plan or missing a show because it has expired," said Jeff Lawrence, President and CEO of PlayOn. "This is a game changer for commuters, travelers, users with mobile data caps, and those who don't want to miss movies and TV shows when they expire from streaming services."
While Netflix has recently offered some of its catalog for download, the vast majority of its most popular streams are not available to download in the Netflix app. Some examples include Netflix originals like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, popular binge-watching favorites like Friends, and the entire Disney library. Additionally, titles downloaded in the Netflix app are only available for a limited amount of time, and the Netflix app itself is no longer available for download on rooted Android phones. PlayOn offers a much more convenient and flexible viewing experience for Netflix subscribers — record any Netflix stream to watch offline on any device at any time.
The PlayOn Cloud Android app will allow users to record and download 100% of the streams from Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Yahoo View, HBO NOW, YouTube, NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, PBS and The CW. Future updates will bring more streaming channels to the app.
The PlayOn Cloud app is available as a free download from the Google Play and iTunes App Store. To record media, PlayOn Cloud users can purchase a pack of 5 recording credits for $1.99, with each credit allowing them to record a full show or movie.
