Playboy and Dream Hotels Host Soiree During Art Basel
Event, Sponsored by Ketel One® Vodka, to Feature the Hole Gallery and Kembra Pfahler's Femlins
CHICAGO, Nov. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Playboy is hosting an exclusive cocktail party during Art Basel Miami Beach at Dream South Beach on Saturday, December 3 from 9p.m. – midnight.
The invite-only affair will celebrate Playboy's artistic legacy with Femlins, a one-night exhibition and performance by renowned musician and performance artist Kembra Pfahler. Her piece is inspired by Playboy's Femlin, the sexy sketched figure that wears thigh-high black boots, black gloves and nothing else. Created by LeRoy Neiman in 1955, the Femlin has appeared in every issue of Playboy magazine and has become nearly as iconic as the brand itself. Pfahler's work features body-painted models in 10 playful poses inspired by the Femlin.
HIGHBAR, the sleek 70s-inspired rooftop lounge and pool at Dream South Beach, gets a New York-style makeover for the week with a pop up version of Nur Khan's Electric Room from its sister property Dream Downtown. This unique setting will be the host venue for the event. Guests will enjoy Pfahler's performance and exhibition, all while sipping Ketel One® Vodka and listening to live music from DJ Matthew Stone.
Over the course of its 58-year history, Playboy has collaborated with thousands of provocative and notable artists, including Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Tom Wesselmann, Keith Haring and Jeff Koons, to create illustrations and works of art that bring the brand's thoughts, philosophies and ideologies to life in a meaningful way. Playboy is returning to Art Basel Miami Beach this year to celebrate the arts and support contemporary artists. Last year's event, "The Nude is Muse," also showcased Pfahler's work.
To further celebrate Playboy's artistic legacy, Dream South Beach will display 10 iconic photographs in the hotel lobby, featuring noteworthy magazine covers, celebrated interviews, and classic Playmate shots from the 50s and 60s.
