Robiis is a collectible robot gaming platform aligned with common core standards that teaches girls and boys ages 6-10 the basics of software programming. The storytelling aspects of Robiis make it excellent for engaging ALL children, in both home and classroom settings. The CEO and founder of Play Works Studio, Adriana Moscatelli, said, "Robiis was carefully designed to be gender neutral because we believe that everyone deserves to have equal opportunities to play and learn."
Robiis players use a visual mobile app to program the robots and solve puzzles and challenges of different levels of difficulty. The game boards are built with hexagonal tiles that can be arranged in a variety of different ways to build ever more challenging puzzles.
Robiis is all about fun, however it is seriously educational. Robiis teaches software programming; children learn concepts such as implementing loops, if-statements, functions, recursion, etc. Players also learn important skills like logical, procedural, spatial and probabilistic reasoning, and they learn them in the context of telling stories and solving problems collaboratively. Most importantly, they are having too much fun to even know they are learning!
Play Works Studio's scientists built and play tested Robiis in classrooms and science museums with grants from the Department of Education and the National Science Foundation.
Play Works Studio is now taking pre-orders for the first commercially available Robii's games from April 25th to June 1st. Early Backers will be the first to purchase and/or donate Robiis kits to schools.
