Play-Well TEKnologies Summer Camps Open for Children to Get Leg(o) Up in S.T.E.M. Fields
Summer camps across the country use LEGOⓇ-inspired builds to teach children S.T.E.M.
OAKLAND, Calif., April 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Play-Well TEKnologies, Inc. (Play-Well), a company providing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (S.T.E.M.) conceptual learning through hands-on, LEGOⓇ-inspired builds, has opened registration for summer camps in more than 27 states across the country for children ages 5-14. Camps last for up to one week, varying state by state and will conclude by August 30. Cost per student ranges up to $250, including the opportunity for students to explore principles of engineering and physics including but not limited to: motors, batteries, compound gear trains, pneumatics and pumps, belt drive transmissions, cams and clutch gears.
"We demystify fields like engineering, architecture and various sciences so students can dream about what's possible," said Jeff Harry, VP of marketing and fun at Play-Well. "Kids are natural engineers and learn best when they have fun, so we provide real-world challenges and immerse them in creative, S.T.E.M. worlds. They explore and problem-solve through the power of play and 20,000 LEGO® pieces, all to give them a leg up for building a solid S.T.E.M. foundation."
For more than twenty years, Play-Well has taught S.T.E.M. concepts to more than 100,000 students annually through its programming, including summer camps, after-school enrichment, team building (for kids and adults alike), special events and classes for girls (Girl Power). Each class is equipped with skilled instructors and the appropriate LEGOⓇ pieces. Programs are delivered in various locations including local recreational centers, school campuses and central meeting locations.
The company hopes to fill even more summer camp spots in 2019 to provide further education across the country. According to the United States Department of Education, both funding for and demand of S.T.E.M. education and jobs, respectively, are on the rise.
Play-Well TEKnologies programs are found in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
