Platts to Unveil its 10th Annual Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings
Roster to be Announced at Awards Dinner during Singapore International Energy Week
NEW YORK, Aug. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Platts, a leading global provider of energy, petrochemicals and metals information, will unveil its tenth annual Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings on November 2, 2011 at a recognition dinner in Singapore.
"Over the last decade, the Top 250 roster has provided a valuable, annual snapshot of how global energy companies have fared with one another financially, underscored the growth of energy businesses in emerging markets, and highlighted leadership across energy sectors," said Larry Neal, president of Platts. "We're pleased this year to celebrate the list's tenth anniversary, and we look forward to continuing this tradition in the years ahead."
Throughout its history, the Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings(TM) have reflected the growth and changes in publicly held energy companies, based on a combination of four financial factors: asset worth, revenues, profits and return on invested capital. The list also ranks companies by industry sector and names the 50 fastest growing companies.
In 2010, integrated oil and gas companies continued to dominate the 10 top spots of the Platts Top 250 roster. Houston-based ExxonMobil Corporation reigned supreme at the top of the rankings for the sixth consecutive year, though the rapid advance of the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China) and the resurgence of the global power sector were also reflected in 2010 rankings.
