Platinum Luxury Auctions Offers Georgia Lakefront Estate in Summer Auction
Luxurious Residence Inspired by du Pont's Winterthur Estate to Sell on June 15th
ATLANTA, May 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- An elegant lakefront estate located in one of Georgia's most desirable waterfront communities will be sold at a live auction on June 15th. The property had previously been listed for as much as $3.5 million, but will now sell to the highest bidder above the auction's reserve price of $1.65 million. Miami-based Platinum Luxury Auctions, one of the nation's premier auction firms for the sale of multi-million-dollar properties, was retained by the estate's owner to conduct the sale. Platinum is working in cooperation with Georgia listing brokerage Georgia Land and Farms LLC, represented by listing agent Nick Cassini, for the sale.
The stately residence offers nearly 300 feet of frontage on Georgia's Lake Lanier, one of the southeast's preferred lakefront destinations. The home is located within the Harbour Point Yacht Club community, a luxury development with a host of amenities, including a private marina and an award-winning clubhouse. The property is complemented by a private, covered boat slip at the Harbour Point marina, which conveys with the sale.
Boasting a rich decor that can be described as "lake house Americana," the estate is filled with colonial-themed artwork and charming furnishings. The owner and his wife modeled many aspects of the lake house after the famous Winterthur Estate in Delaware. Now a museum, the estate was the home of Henry Francis du Pont and is known for housing one of the most important collections of Americana in the United States.
With nearly 10,800 interior square feet and three levels of living space, the lake house can comfortably accommodate a large family or a sizable weekend getaway party. There are 6 bedrooms, 5 full and 2 half baths. Notable features include a two-story grand salon, formal dining room, gourmet kitchen, richly appointed executive study, separate in-law suite, a lower level entertainment parlor with a beautiful, commercial-grade bar and fireplace, home gym, cigar room, multiple outdoor terraces, utility room and a 3-car garage.
The property owners, an executive for a large global corporation and his wife, carefully evaluated the luxury auction process after the traditional brokerage process failed to produce a sale. "As we are experiencing more often, this seller's attention was actually captured by another auction company, thus beginning his investigation into the auction process and the various service providers. I believe Platinum was selected over four or five competing firms," stated David Enriquez, Platinum's senior project manager who is managing the sale for the firm. Mr. Enriquez added that the seller went so far as to scout one of Platinum's other luxury auctions – a smashing success in Wellington, Florida – before inviting the firm's executives to his residence to sign an auction contract.
"This is one of the most lovely lake houses we've ever handled," added Trayor Lesnock, Platinum's president. "It reminds me of the beautiful riverfront and lakefront residences in the Virginia and Maryland areas."
Property previews begin May 27th and continue daily until the June 15th auction date. Interested parties are encouraged to contact Platinum's project manager David Enriquez at 1.800.262.5132 or via email at [email protected]. Complete details may also be found at LakeLanierLuxuryAuction.com.
