Platinum Luxury Auctions Delivers Once Again, This Time in the Rocky Mountains
Firm Teams with Aspen-Snowmass Sotheby's International Realty for March Sale.
ASPEN, Colo., March 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Five weeks after shattering its pre-sale estimates by producing a $7 million auction sale in Wellington, Florida, veteran auction firm Platinum Luxury Auctions racked up another successful sale in Snowmass Village, Colorado. A sale price of $1.76 million was achieved at a live, luxury auction held on March 16th. The auction attracted nine registered bidders and was conducted without a reserve price or a required minimum bid. Immediately prior to being placed on the luxury auction block, the property was listed traditionally for approximately $2.1 million. It had been on the market for more than 3 years.
Top sales producer and 30-year industry veteran Chris Lewis of Aspen-Snowmass Sotheby's International Realty was the listing broker of record who worked in tandem with Platinum for the sale. "The luxury auction process was a very professional affair. This is a tight-knit brokerage community and Platinum's team did an excellent job in working with me to engage our real estate professionals and ensure their clients would not miss this opportunity," stated Lewis.
Although luxury real estate sales in the neighboring community of Aspen tend to make big headlines, the Snowmass Village marketplace has been slightly more sluggish. "The seller's immediate marketplace suffered from an average time on market of nearly 600 days, one of the longest I've ever seen," stated Trayor Lesnock, Platinum's president. "To team with Chris Lewis and Sotheby's to attract 9 bidders for this auction and achieve this price is simply brilliant. From what I understand, other local sellers are taking note." Lesnock also stated that the auction sale exceeded both the average gross sales price and the average sales price on a per-square-foot basis for the 6 most recent sales within the seller's community.
Michael O'Brien, Platinum's project manager for the sale, noted that interested parties from all over the country previewed the property during Platinum's marketing campaign. "The auction process really shook things up here and identified quite a few high-powered purchasers. The winning bidders had been looking in the area for nearly 6 months but were not particularly swayed by anything they had seen until the auction captured their attention," stated O'Brien. Local agent BJ Adams, owner of BJ Adams & Company, represented the winning bidders, who are adding the residence to their personal list of luxury properties they own throughout the country.
The property is a tri-level townhome located in the Country Club Townhomes development, situated along the Snowmass Club Golf Course and just a couple miles down mountain from Snowmass's popular "Base Village." It features nearly 2,592 interior square feet, 3 beds and 3.5 baths. The seller is a multi-property owner who sold the residence as part of an effort to re-capitalize her financial portfolio.
