Plastikon Industries Celebrates Grand Opening of Its Kentucky Plant Expansion

LEITCHFIELD, Ky., July 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Plastikon celebrated the grand opening of its new 110,000-square-foot expansion of its plastic injection molding facility now bringing the Leitchfield, Kentucky plant to over 200,000 square feet and $20m of investment. Company executives welcomed a host of business leaders, local luminaries, and politicians including Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin on Wednesday, June 14.
Plastikon and its subsidiaries, operate nine facilities throughout the world providing plastic products to the automotive, medical and consumer sectors. Plastikon is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and the Leitchfield KY plant, which services the automotive industry, is now in its 10th year of operations.
Leitchfield Plastikon General Manager John Yates, a proud Kentuckian, served as Master of Ceremonies for the celebration, and said he was proud to have the opportunity to highlight the company's cutting edge equipment but mostly Yates expressed his appreciation to Plastikon's employees, whom, he said, were "instrumental" in the plant's expansion and success.
Leitchfield Mayor William Thomason spoke as well, and said the City of Leitchfield is thankful it was chosen for such a large expansion.
Plastikon CEO Bernard Fried credited the commitment of local leaders to promoting a good business environment as a key factor in allowing the company to grow and succeed in Leitchfield.
"When a company is able to celebrate as we are today, it is due to many interested parties," said Fried, acknowledging the support of elected officials, as well as that of the community and, of course, the employees.
Governor Bevin followed Fried as the keynote speaker for the celebration. Being introduced to a rousing standing ovation, Bevin spoke from the heart, praising all the employees of Plastikon, as well as company management. The Governor also noted that it's the job of politicians to make expansion similar to Plastikon's easier for companies to execute by passing pro-business legislation.
Governor Bevin went on to say "because places that are focused on safety and innovation and cutting edge equipment and facilities, nice office and warehouse space, … the stuff that's in here is phenomenal, the cleanliness of this place is impressive."

Following his speech, Bevin led Plastikon executives and local officials in the ceremonial cutting of the red ribbon to celebrate the expansion's grand opening.
Fried concluded his remarks by saying that "All of us are interested parties in making this plant a success and the main reason is to ensure a better future for our loved ones."
