WASHINGTON, Nov. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- To celebrate America Recycles Day this November 15, Plastics Make it Possible® will send a fleet of mobile recycling bins to six cities with large college campuses across the United States. Thirty brightly colored pedicabs will transport recycling bins on city streets and through college campuses to collect recyclable plastics and to raise awareness of the importance of recycling—on America Recycles Day and every day.

Five Plastics Make it Possible® mobile recycling bins will appear in Tempe, Arizona; Bloomington, Indiana; Ann Arbor, Michigan; Seattle, Washington; Boston, Massachusetts; and Washington, D.C. Residents and students in each city will be encouraged to photograph themselves or others tossing recyclable plastics into pedicab bins—and then share those photos via Twitter or Instagram using custom hashtags that appear on the pedicabs. Anyone who tags @plasticpossible and uses the custom hashtags will be entered into a giveaway for a chance to win one of five $100 gift cards per city.
"These eye-catching, roving recycling bins will personally invite people to recycle more plastics," said Steve Russell, vice president of plastics for the American Chemistry Council, which sponsors the Plastics Make it Possible® initiative. "And then by sharing their recycling images on social networks, these eco-minded people can inspire even more recycling of plastics and other materials, on America Recycles Day and beyond."
America Recycles Day is sponsored by the nonprofit Keep America Beautiful and is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to encouraging Americans to recycle and to seek out recycled products. Today, 94 percent of Americans have access to a plastics recycling program. In addition, consumers now can find a wide range of products made with recycled plastics, from furniture to clothing to kitchen gadgets, which gives new life to these valuable materials.
How to Enter Giveaway: To be entered for a chance to win one of five $100 gift cards per city on November 15, tweet or Instagram @plasticpossible using the custom hashtags that appear on mobile recycling bins.
