Planterra Brings DSO Concert Series & DIA Artist Pop-Up This Summer
WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich., May 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Planterra is pleased to announce that the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) will be partnering with Planterra Conservatory on a series of concerts and display of a reproduction of a DIA masterpiece this summer.
The DIA will exhibit a lifelike reproduction of Reeds and Cranes, a 19th century piece by Suzuki Kiitzu, in the Planterra Conservatory from June 2 to August 3, with the piece being celebrated at the Forum for Prints, Drawings and Photographs (a museum support group) Summer Soiree fundraiser titled "A Feeling for Flowers in Art and the Art in Flowers." The event will include cocktails and a discussion on the meanings of flowers in Asian art led by Birgitta Augustin, DIA associate curator of Asian and Islamic art. Tickets are $60 per person and may be purchased by calling 313-833-9830 or by emailing [email protected].
The DSO will return to Planterra for the third consecutive year with its Neighborhood Chamber Recitals. These concerts have sold out quickly in previous years, so Planterra will be offering two DSO concerts: the first on June 3 and the second on June 17. The concerts will begin promptly at 8:00pm, and a cash bar will be available. For ticketing information, visit www.dso.org or call the Max M. Fisher Music Center box office at 313.576.5111.
