Planet Resource Recovery, Inc. Receives Positive Phase 1 Scientific Studies on PetroLuxus for Waterflood Application
HOUSTON, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Planet Resource Recovery, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PRRY) is pleased to announce that the company has received the initial results of PetroLuxus™ application to incremental oil recovery over typical waterflood recoveries. Crude oil interfacial tension was significantly reduced while incremental recovery above that of waterflood was encouraging at ~8%.
In April 2010, Planet Resource Recovery, Inc. retained Core Laboratories, Inc., a leading provider of proprietary and patented reservoir description, production enhancement and reservoir management services for the global petroleum industry, to test the effects of PetroLuxus on waterflood recovery using a Berea Sandstone core plug and 25 API crude oil.
The crude oil was exposed to the PetroLuxus-brine solution to determine the effect on interfacial tension (IFT). The oil-brine IFT initially measured ~22 dynes/cm and after exposure dropped to 0.46 dynes/cm. Testing continued by first saturating the Berea Sandstone core plug to simulate waterflood reservoir conditions and displaced with brine water to endpoint saturation. PetroLuxus at 5% by volume was then added to the brine solution and waterflood displacement continued. An ~8% additional increase in recovery was realized. It is anticipated that optimization of the PetroLuxus percentage and an increase in residence time will demonstrate higher oil recoveries.
Resulting from initial testing are a number of additional questions to consider to further our understanding of PetroLuxus and the promising potential effect on existing waterflood recoveries. Further Core Lab testing is underway to determine the many facets of PetroLuxus application to incremental waterflood oil recovery.
