MIAMI, May 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As NFL teams look to improve their chances ahead of the 2016 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers are turning to the innovative Lynx Board to provide a low-impact training solution for players that will strengthen their all-important core and give them greater balance and stability on the field.
Lynx Fitness has also been named an official training partner of the AFC North franchise, which has amassed more Super Bowl wins than any other team in professional football with a championship record of 6-2.
"The Lynx Board was developed by European athletes who were seeking a competitive advantage in the grueling 10-event decathlon — one of the oldest tests of athleticism known to man," observed Lynx Fitness CEO Sheldon Burnett. "Today's NFL is the modern-day embodiment of this ancient tradition with its emphasis on speed, agility, balance and grace."
Unlike other fitness devices, the Lynx Board offers full 360-degree range of motion and provides a total body workout without the need for complicated routines or costly add-on components. With more than 800 specially designed training techniques that target all major muscle groups, the Lynx Board's patented friction surface uses body weight to provide counter resistance as the user glides in rhythmic precision along a specially engineered surface.
"We use them for everything — variety of movements, for a variety of purposes," explained Steelers Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach Marcel C. Pastoor, who says that the Steelers employ a bar-based functional training style in which workouts are modified for each player based on game performance and whether or not they are suffering from an injury.
The Lynx Board has been generating buzz among fitness experts and people with joint or weight problems since its October 2015 release in the U.S. and Canada. Team USA swimmer Mike Alexandrov has also incorporated the Lynx Board into his training regimen ahead of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
"Our goal is to complement the world-class training program that the Steelers already have in place and provide additional benefits for these amazing athletes," added Lynx Fitness Executive Vice President for Business Development Jordan Donsky. "If we can help prevent even one injury through better conditioning, our Lynx Boards will prove to be a great addition for the team."
The Steelers are training with the Home/Gym model of the Lynx Board, which retails for $329. The more portable Lynx Travel Board retails for $229 and fits comfortably in the overhead bins of most airplanes. Both models are available with free shipping at LynxFitness.com.
