SEATTLE, Sept. 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- PitchBook, a premier data provider for the private and public equity markets, has launched PitchBook Industry Overview, which provides users with new data visualization tools during Companies & Deals advanced searches. When users run an advanced search, a new Overview tab will be the new default view and consist of intuitive charts and graphs that surface developing trends, players to watch and competitive intelligence. As the private capital market continues to expand and evolve into a competitive, global market, nascent industries are increasingly emerging and growing in complexity. These market forces make it challenging for investment professionals to identify every key player in a given space and develop sound investment strategies. In anticipation of this launch, PitchBook conducted beta testing with 40 venture capital, corporate development and other client types. At the end of the testing period, 100% of respondents cited they would use PitchBook Industry Overview at least once per week.
"New markets and companies are emerging at a faster rate than ever before. For most investment professionals, this makes leveraging data to efficiently analyze trends and spot the next big thing critical in gaining a competitive edge," said Alex Legault, director of products at PitchBook. "To make wading through this data faster and easier, PitchBook has invested heavily in the ability to automatically serve up intelligent insights to clients using its best-in-class financial market data. We'll continue testing and launching new tools that save clients' time and resources, while feeding them the most relevant insights."
PitchBook Industry Overview combines the Platform's advanced search functionality with new visualization tools to help users quickly and easily understand a current market's landscape. Based on search criteria, the new default view will include a graphical representation of investments over time (deal count and capital raised) in any given industry by investment type. Users can also glean insights from new widgets illustrating "Companies to Watch" with logic revealing new entrants, most heavily funded companies and companies most likely to be fundraising, as well as "Top Players" including the top investors, acquirers, public and private companies. Following the launch of PitchBook Suggestions, a machine-learning powered feature that recommends relevant companies to users during advanced searches, PitchBook Industry Overview is another example of PitchBook's commitment to improving the advanced search user experience.
