Pinellas Plaza in Florida Designed with AZEK Trim, Mouldings and Rail with Custom Decorative Accents

SCRANTON, Pa., March 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The new Pinellas Plaza in The Villages near Wildwood, FL, which includes a Sweetbay grocery store as the anchor with two additional buildings filled with a variety of retail stores and eateries, is designed to be easy on the eyes and even easier for property managers to care for. The entire plaza features a bright and bold exterior designed with AZEK Trim, Mouldings and Rail with some very unique accents. The low-maintenance, industry-leading cellular pvc exterior trim and railings were essential components in the plaza's architectural detail, which could be described as Craftsman meets breezy Key West style, in pastel green, yellow and salmon colors.

Part of a 72-store chain throughout West Central Florida, the Sweetbay grocery store features 200 linear ft. of AZEK's Premier Rail installed with a custom in-fill design and rounded Key West style pickets fabricated by Finyl Sales of Ocala. "We also fabricated an enormous amount of AZEK trim and mouldings throughout the exterior of the entire plaza to give it the ornate architectural details the retailers were looking for," said Andy Slagel, VP at Finyl Sales. "It truly stands out as a design icon in The Villages."

Finyl Sales' shop supplied and fabricated all of the railings, brackets, corbels, shutters, louvers, decorative gable ends, and spandrel railings on all three buildings. They also fabricated all of the radius trim on the Sweetbay store and the retail stores' faux dormers. AZEK products were chosen for the project due to their proven performance in standing up to the Florida sun and elements while offering excellent workability. As wood replacement products, AZEK Trim, Mouldings and Railings all offer the rich look and feel of wood, yet with lasting durability to minimize maintenance and eliminate the need for painting.

Slagel worked closely with Marco Bay Construction, the general contractor on the 100,000 sq. ft. plaza and on a daily basis with Elisa Adams-Rae of Mico Customs, the subcontractor who installed the exteriors. "It was a very nice project for us and a tremendous showcase for AZEK products," said Slagel.
