Pillsbury Boosts Transportation Finance Practice in New York
Leading Aviation Lawyer Barry Biggar joins Pillsbury
NEW YORK, June 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Pillsbury today welcomed new finance partner Barry Biggar to its New York office. Biggar concentrates his practice on asset finance, advising financiers of sizable capital assets in the aviation, rail, maritime and manufacturing sectors, as well as the financing of nuclear fuel sources in addition to renewables, bringing decades of experience representing lenders, lessors and investors.
"We are excited to welcome Barry to Pillsbury," said Firm Chair Jim Rishwain, Jr. "Finance is a strength of our firm and a key area for further growth, and Barry brings a vital array of skills and experiences to our practice. His considerable experience guiding companies through complex financial projects will offer significant and strategic benefits to Pillsbury's clients."
Biggar has more than 25 years of experience representing financial institutions in complex structured debt and tax advantaged financings in both the U.S. domestic and cross-border markets. He also has extensive experience representing issuers, underwriters and placement agents of registered, 144A-eligible and privately placed debt securities issued to finance such assets.
"Barry's rich history of serving clients across a number of industries, including transportation, heavy industry and energy (traditional and renewables) will be an excellent complement to the range of services we offer our global clients," said Finance section leader Jon Whitney. "Barry is a welcome addition to our Finance practice in New York, and will add a wealth of experience to our international cross-border finance team."
Biggar has devoted a substantial portion of his career to aviation finance matters, both commercial and corporate, including operating and finance leases, EXIM and other ECA supported financings, debt portfolio securitizations and EETC's. He has been recognized by Air Finance Journal as one of the leading aviation lawyers in North America.
"Pillsbury has world class Aviation and Transportation Finance teams in addition to a global finance practice and I'm thrilled to be joining such a strong group," Biggar said. "I look forward to collaborating with Pillsbury's team in New York, London, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Asia."
Biggar received his Bachelor of Science from Manhattan College, cum laude, and his JD, cum laude, from Pace University School of Law. He is admitted to practice in the state of New York. Prior to joining Pillsbury, he was a partner at McGuire Woods.
