Pillar Palatal, LLC and Airway Management Announce Exclusive Distribution Agreement for myTAP Oral Appliance
DALLAS, Feb. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Pillar Palatal, LLC, a medical device company that manufactures and markets the Pillar Procedure, along with Airway Management, a company that develops, manufactures and markets oral appliances to treat snoring and sleep apnea, today announced the signing of an exclusive distribution agreement between the two companies. Effective immediately, Pillar Palatal will become the exclusive United States distributor of the myTAP oral appliance, manufactured by Airway Management, for the Otolaryngology (ENT) physician market.
Dr. Craig Schwimmer, MD, MPH, FACS, Chairman and Chief Medical Officer of Pillar Palatal said, "In the United States over 50 million adults suffer from snoring and sleep apnea. ENT physicians have historically treated these patients surgically. Since the Pillar Procedure was FDA cleared in 2002, it has provided ENT doctors with a less invasive, convenient, office based method to strengthen the soft palate, which is often the biggest contributor to snoring and sleep apnea. However, other parts of the anatomy also impact many patients. For these patients, the addition of an oral appliance to properly position the lower jaw during sleep can be of significant additional benefit. We believe that, when used in conjunction with the Pillar Procedure, the myTap will offer significantly improved results for these patients." Dr. Schwimmer went on to say, "For ENT's, the Pillar Procedure and the myTAP represent complimentary, cost effective and convenient treatment options. We are excited to join forces with Airway Management, a company that for many years has been a leader in high quality oral appliances to help treat snoring and sleep apnea."
Charles Collins, Chief Operations Officer with Airway Management added, "We are very excited about partnering with Pillar Palatal. Together, we are uniquely positioned to provide ENT's a more accessible, fully functional appliance for the treatment of sleep disordered breathing and snoring."
