Piero Giramonti Named General Manager Of Harvest Records
CHARGED WITH RELAUNCHING RENOWNED LABEL WITHIN CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Piero Giramonti has been named General Manager, Harvest Records, it was announced today by Capitol Records Group Executive Vice President Michelle Jubelirer, to whom Giramonti will report. As the head of Harvest, Giramonti is charged with bringing an independent-label approach to the company; signing a select group of innovative artists and helping them achieve success, while empowering them with the freedom to pursue their artistic visions. Harvest will provide dedicated A&R and marketing resources for its artists and will integrate its efforts with those of the newly expanded Caroline, which will primarily provide commercial support, radio promotion and licensing resources to the label. Giramonti will be based in Hollywood, California at the iconic Capitol Records Tower.
According to Michelle Jubelirer, "Piero's experience in the indie world, as well as his years and varied resume within major label systems, makes him the perfect person to relaunch and lead Harvest. Piero and his team will build a label where a select roster of original, cutting-edge artists can find strong support and the best of both worlds – the benefits of a dedicated label, as well the clout of Caroline and the Capitol Music Group."
Giramonti said, "First and foremost, I would like to thank Steve Barnett and Michelle Jubelirer for this appointment, as their belief in the importance of a new life for Harvest is making the relaunch of this storied label a reality. Harvest has always been known as the home of progressive, culturally-provocative, left-of-center, and ahead-of-the-curve artists, and that is the tradition we will continue as our artists and staff collectively write the next chapter in the label's history." He added, "It feels great to be back in the Capitol Tower where I started my career in the American music business."
Prior to leading Harvest, Giramonti was President of Dangerbird, the Silverlake-based independent record label, artist management and music publishing company he joined in early 2011, working most notably with Silversun Pickups and overseeing the breakthrough campaign of Fitz and the Tantrums. Prior to that position, Giramonti was Senior Vice president of Video and DVD Production for Sony Music North America from 2004 to 2007, where he oversaw all visual content production for all of the Sony music labels in North America.
Giramonti was previously Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at both Epic Records (2001) and Virgin Records (1998), based in New York and Los Angeles respectively. Mr. Giramonti was also an International Marketing executive with EMI based in London, U.K. and Milan, Italy, living in Europe in the late 1980's and early 1990's.
