Pierce Bainbridge adds Life Sciences leaders Slater and Sephton in New York
NEW YORK, Jan. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Pierce Bainbridge Beck Price & Hecht LLP ("Pierce Bainbridge") continued its record growth this week, adding new partners Brian Slater and Gregory Sephton to its New York office.
"We are thrilled that Brian and Greg have chosen Pierce Bainbridge as their new home," said the firm's Managing Partner John Pierce. "The synergies between their market leading IP litigation and counseling practices and our platform of innovation and efficiency are tremendous."
Brian and Greg join the firm from Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP, where Brian served as chair of the Life Sciences practice. Both have played leading roles in high-stakes pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent litigation for industry leaders including AstraZeneca, Gilead, Merck, Novartis, and Sanofi.
Brian is a trial lawyer with over 25 years of IP experience, and will chair Pierce Bainbridge's Life Sciences practice. He has been lead counsel in high-value patent litigations involving biologics, diagnostics, and pharmaceuticals, including defending several major branded drug products in Hatch-Waxman Act litigation. He also counsels emerging and established companies on protecting, licensing and monetizing their IP assets. His many industry accolades include being named a "Star Life Sciences Lawyer" by LMG Life Sciences, a "Patent Star" by Managing Intellectual Property and a recommended practitioner for litigation by IAM Patent. In addition, Brian is a frequent speaker and author on IP topics particularly as they impact the life science industry.
Greg has a Ph.D. in biochemistry and has extensive experience litigating biologics, diagnostics, medical devices and pharmaceuticals, including multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical patent cases under the Hatch-Waxman Act. Greg also advises on strategic intellectual property counseling and due diligence transactions. In addition to Kramer Levin, Brian and Greg spent over 20 years at the Chambers Band 1-ranked IP boutique, Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto.
"We are excited to join forces with Pierce Bainbridge, which offers a very attractive platform with exceptional talent and a lean and dynamic approach that will benefit our clients," said Brian.
