Piedmont Advantage Credit Union Engages Lawmaker
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Sept. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Congresswoman Virginia Foxx, Representative for North Carolina's 5th Congressional District, engaged the staff and member/owners of Piedmont Advantage Credit Union in Winston Salem. Members Come First is Piedmont Advantage Credit Union's core value, and Congresswoman Foxx received that same warm welcome as she toured the credit union's headquarters, conversing with staff and meeting members along the way. Congresswoman Foxx was introduced to the credit union difference as a member-owned financial cooperative, and she experienced the culture of Piedmont Advantage Credit Union, including its Member Experience Advisor (MEA) model. Congresswoman Foxx found that the credit union difference stems from Piedmont Advantage Credit Union's Board of Directors who are all volunteers, community involvement through social responsibility initiatives, member votes at the annual meeting, and solutions that benefit member/owners at any life stage. At Piedmont Advantage Credit Union, a member/owner isn't just a number.
As Congresswoman Foxx agreed, learning and education are important. Piedmont Advantage Credit Union strives to educate its staff and member/owners on issues relevant to the success of the organization and its member/owners. Congresswoman Foxx's visit is no exception to that goal. Hosting local lawmakers in the very cities that they represent every day allows exposure and opportunity for the community members to meet local lawmakers, as well as voice their concerns and opinions. Congresswoman Foxx engaged Piedmont Advantage Credit Union member/owners and staff and shared her support for credit unions. "I just want to assure you that you don't have to worry. I will always support credit unions," stated Congresswoman Foxx. "Credit unions are always working to make sure that lawmakers understand the difference between for-profit banks and not-for-profit credit unions. A good working relationship with lawmakers is a necessity," said Piedmont Advantage Credit Union President/CEO Judy Tharp. "Now, that commitment coming from one of our members of Congress is exciting and encouraging for our membership." As Piedmont Advantage Credit Union continues to enhance the lives of its members by providing caring financial solutions, the organization also encourages its communities to reach out to their local lawmakers to explore how they can continue to make positive differences for communities and the people who live in them.
