Physicians Practice Tablet App Addresses Health IT Challenges
Second digital edition in series offers advice to help practices maximize efficiency and ROI
NORWALK, Conn., July 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- UBM Medica US today announced that Physicians Practice, the award-winning practice management resource for physicians and medical office staff, released the second digital issue of its free iPad application. This issue includes a multitude of tips from peers and technology experts to help practices efficiently maximize the benefits of technology investments.
The field of health IT is having a significant impact on the way physicians practice medicine, affecting how they see patients, document treatment, and receive payment. One of the biggest drivers of change — and areas of challenge — is the government's incentive program for the meaningful use of EHRs. According to the Physicians Practice 2013 Technology Survey, respondents cited EHR adoption and implementation as their most pressing health IT problem. And while 76 percent of survey participants had already implemented or were planning to implement an EHR in their practice, less than half had seen a return on their investment.
In addition to data from the 2013 Technology Survey, the second issue includes articles, tools, and multi-media presentations to help practices better select and get the most from the their technology purchases. Available now in the App Store, this edition's features include:
- A complete guide to the meaningful use program, including crib sheets in addition to advice from the CMS Office of E-Health Standards and Services
- Tips for connecting with "mobile" patients
- Financial strategies to help practices acquire the latest technology
- Suggested apps and gadgets to improve life in and outside of the office
"Everyone from patients to payers expects today's practices to be more tech-savvy," said Keith Martin, managing editor at UBM Medica US. "This issue of the Physicians Practice app will help practices select, finance, and efficiently utilize some of the best tech tools available for practices. We can't think of a better way to present our guide to building a state-of-the-art practice than the interactive format afforded by a tablet app."
For nearly 25 years, Physicians Practice has provided practical advice on the business of medicine through a variety of mediums including print, digital, and live events. The tablet app was launched in April 2013 and combines Physicians Practice's practical advice with interactive features such as podcasts, videos, and personalized checklists..
This is the second of three issues of the Physicians Practice tablet app planned for 2013. For more information, visit the App Store.
