Phyn Brings Intelligent Water Pilot Program To Orlando
Smart Water Solution Brings Advanced Water Sensing and Conservation Technology to Market with Local Area Help
PLAYA VISTA, Calif., Nov. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Phyn, the intelligent water solution from Belkin International and Uponor (HEL: UNR1V), today announced an expansion of its pilot program to the Orlando metro area. Phyn's patented water-sensing technology aims to help people protect their homes from leaks, conserve water and save money.
Phyn is looking for homeowners in the Orlando area to install Phyn's intelligent water monitor and play a critical role in the refinement and validation of its advanced leak detection system. Eligible participants will receive a free Phyn system and professional installation from a specially trained, hand-selected local plumber. Once installed, Phyn pilot households will be able to keep tabs on their water usage, including the ability to detect leaks or other issues, and shut off their water remotely from the Phyn app on their smart device.
Phyn combines the latest advancements in sensor technology with advanced machine learning algorithms to provide a simple, safe and reliable leak detection solution that helps eliminate water waste, save money and protect against water damage. Non-invasive and easy-to-use, Phyn consists of a single device installed at a single point on a home's main water line to provide information on every water event in the home – from the kitchen sink to the powder room toilet and all the pipes behind the walls. From that single point, Phyn can detect changes in the household's normal water usage, alerting homeowners via the Phyn app immediately if there is an issue like a running toilet, a slow-leaking pipe, or a burst anywhere on the plumbing line.
"Our beta program to date has been very successful in validating the high accuracy of our algorithms, but we now want to include a more diverse set of weather patterns, geography, home styles and plumbing environments in order to really put our technology through its paces," said Ryan Kim, CEO of Phyn. "We're counting on feedback from these local pilots to help shape our final product and user experience, so Orlando-area participants are pivotal to our success."
Phyn's pilot program is expected to last about a year and is only open to a limited number of participants in eight local markets throughout the country. To ensure the success of the pilot program, Phyn has hand selected and certified only a few installation professionals in each local area market. In Orlando, that includes:
- Chris Finn, Bordeau Plumbing
- Stephen Germany, First Quality Plumbing
- Gregory Testa, Shaw's Central Florida Service
