Phreesia Expands Company Leadership to Address Growing Demand for Automated Patient Check-in Solution
New Chief Marketing Officer and VP of Engineering will help drive nationwide adoption of PhreesiaPad
NEW YORK, Nov. 23, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Phreesia, the leader in patient check-in, today announced the appointment of two new executives. Mark O'Leary joins as the company's chief marketing officer (CMO) and Gilbert Benghiat boards as vice president of engineering. O'Leary has nearly 20 years of experience in healthcare technology and finance with major software, banking and healthcare organizations, while Benghiat has successfully delivered enterprise and SaaS software products in the pharmaceutical and systems management industries.
"Mark's expertise in consumer-directed healthcare and technology innovation will be a great asset to Phreesia," said Chaim Indig, CEO and co-founder of Phreesia. "His many years at industry-leading companies will provide our executive team with a fresh perspective and valuable insight as we expand our customer base across the country."
Phreesia is making a major impact on the healthcare industry. Since breaking onto the scene in 2005, the company has raised more than $45 million in venture capital financing, and serves thousands of physicians across the United States. Its flagship application, the PhreesiaPad, solves many major problems that impact physician practices. By replacing the traditional clipboard, Phreesia automatically verifies insurance information and ensures prompt, accurate collections.
"People are so used to the standard clipboard for patient check-in that they often don't realize how antiquated and inefficient the process truly is," said O'Leary. "I joined Phreesia because I was impressed by the team's drive and ideas. It is amazing how many improvements are achieved by simply automating the patient check-in process—from real-time eligibility and benefits to improved payment collections and patient information capture, the entire patient visit is elevated. This will be a game-changer for providers and patients in 2011. I look forward to contributing to the success of the company and the improvement of medical practices nationwide."
Prior to joining Phreesia, O'Leary held senior executive leadership positions at TSYS Healthcare, UnitedHealth Group, Cherry Tree Securities, US Bank and Deluxe Corporation. He has also been a board member for several non-profit organizations addressing poverty and healthcare delivery. O'Leary earned an MBA in finance from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and a Bachelor of Arts in economics and philosophy from the University of Saint Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
"Gil is a strong and innovative leader whose product development accomplishments have had significant impact on his companies' successes—from revenue and headcount increases to industry reputation and awareness. We expect impressive contributions to the continued development of the PhreesiaPad over the coming year," continued Indig.
Benghiat joins Phreesia from LeapFrogRx, a provider of business intelligence software for the pharmaceutical industry. Gil will be taking leadership of Phreesia's engineering department. He was previously with Relicore, Inc. (acquired by Symantec Corp. in 2006) and Phase Forward, a leading provider of integrated data management solutions for clinical trials and drug safety. Benghiat also has held engineering positions with AT&T Bell Laboratories, Sybase and NetCentric. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in computer science and a Bachelor of Science in applied mathematics/biology from Brown University, and a Master of Science in computer science from Stanford University.
