PHOTON Consulting Presenting Bright Future for US Solar Energy at San Francisco Conference
BOSTON, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- In his State of the Union address to Congress, US President Obama highlighted the importance of solar power to America's future and stressed that, "It is time for America to lead again." With the strong support of government incentives and declining system prices, demand for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in the United States is showing steady growth, yielding an increasing number of watt-hours of solar electricity generation and solar jobs.
For the first time in history, it is estimated that the PV systems installed in the United States in 2010 will generate more than one terawatt-hour (one billion kilowatt-hours) of electricity. "Solar power has reached a scale in the US at which it is capturing national attention as an important generator of electricity and of jobs," said Michael Rogol, a leading global PV analyst and CEO of Boston-based PHOTON Consulting.
The PHOTON Consulting team - including Rogol and Dr. Ryan Boas - will present its most up-to-date analysis of the global and US solar power sector at the Solar Terawatt-hours Conference Series hosted by PHOTON USA Corp. in San Francisco. During the conference, the PHOTON Consulting team will meet with solar PV representatives from around the world to discuss regulatory and economic opportunities and challenges driven by the rapid growth for solar power. The PHOTON Consulting team will present forecasts for the United States PV sector, as well as provide insights about and projections of sector volumes, costs and prices.
"Since the 1980s, the US has seen its leadership position in the solar power sector decline. In the coming years, we expect that this will reverse, with the US achieving a large volume of installations and providing technologies on the forefront of the industry," said Rogol. "The three-day conference in San Francisco will showcase many of the US' leading and emerging companies, technologies and customers."
A three-part series, the PHOTON Solar Terawatt-hours Conference will include:
- The 2nd PV Thin Film Conference - Feb. 2, 2010
- The 2nd PV Start-up Conference - Feb. 3, 2010
- The 3rd Solar Electric Utility Conference - Feb. 4, 2010
The PHOTON Solar Terawatt-hours Conference Series is aimed at solar investors and decision makers from the solar industry and electric utility sector, as well as companies planning to move into this exciting and fast growing technology. The event is being organized by PHOTON, the world's leading PV publisher, to provide a catalyst for in-depth discussions, analysis and action, as PV technology increases its scale and impact on global power generation. The conference series is taking place in conjunction with the PHOTON Photovoltaic Technology Show, a trade fair for manufacturers of PV production equipment, process materials and balance-of-system products at Moscone West on Howard St./Fourth St. in San Francisco.
