TUCSON, Ariz., Oct. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Photometrics announces the release of its Iris 15 Scientific CMOS camera, a new imaging solution designed with a large field of view for OEM Instrument builders and live cell microscopy applications. Iris 15 delivers a 15 megapixel sensor with a 25 millimeter field of view, providing extremely high-resolution images over a large imaging area. The Iris 15 is the only camera that combines this large field of view and high resolution with video rate acquisition speeds, ensuring dynamic cellular events are properly captured, make it ideal for a wide array of scientific imaging and detection applications.
"Iris 15 provides a unique capability for live cell imaging because researchers are able to take advantage of the extremely large imaging area combined with high frame rates," said Rachit Mohindra, product manager at Photometrics. "The camera enables researchers to acquire extremely detailed images with its smaller pixels and flexibility to image at 40 times magnification. Scientific applications like Light Sheet microscopy become well-suited for the Iris 15 camera."
Iris 15 captures detailed 15 megapixel images using the 25mm microscope field-of-view at over 32 frames per second (fps). It offers a 4.25µm x 4.25µm pixel area which meets the requirements for Nyquist spatial sampling at 40 times magnification, as well as high sensitivity with a 73 percent quantum efficiency and low noise levels.
The Iris Scientific CMOS camera platform offers maximum flexibility for OEM instrument manufacturers as well, with a compact size, interface options and access to customized on-camera image processing.
"Instrument designers have newfound power in their hands with the Iris camera based on its large field of view and flexible integration options. We are proud of the FPGA-based processing competency Photometrics has developed which may be leveraged with one of our algorithms or to deploy custom processing. Each of these capabilities give our partners the ideal imaging engine for their next instrument," said Steven Smith, OEM Marketing Manager at Photometrics.
Iris 15 Scientific CMOS camera provides an unmatched combination of resolution, field of view, frame rates and sensitivity. More information is available on the Photometrics website.
