TUCSON, Ariz., July 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- US-based scientific camera designer and manufacturer Photometrics announces the launch of the new Prime 95B scientific CMOS camera Series. The Series includes updates to the existing Prime 95B and Prime 95B 25MM cameras with the addition of the new Prime 95B 22MM.
Prime 95B 22MM: The Prime 95B 22MM builds on the success of the Prime 95B, the world's first 95% quantum efficient, back-illuminated scientific CMOS camera for life science imaging, already installed in hundreds of labs around the globe.
Similar to the 95B 25MM, which has a 25 mm field of view to match the camera port of 25 mm field of view microscopes, the new Prime 95B 22MM was designed to optimally fit the 22 mm camera port to reach the maximum field of view output of the standard C-mount. This allows researchers to better match the Prime 95B to the largest obtainable field of view available with their microscope, providing the ability to see and not miss important events that are needed for their research.
Updated Specifications: The Prime 95B 22MM delivers a larger field of view with the same, proven, high performance of the Prime 95B camera. The back-illuminated sensor is 95% quantum efficient with 11x11 µm pixels which have a deep 80,000 e- full well capacity and maintain a low 1.6 e- read noise. The maximum full-frame frame rate is 70 frames per second (fps), offering a compromise between the faster 82 fps possible on the Prime 95B and the 60 fps possible on the Prime 95B 25MM. Speed can still be increased further by selecting a smaller region.
Updated Real-Time Application Optimization Features: Accompanying the existing Multi-ROI and PrimeEnhance1 features, new developments were made:
- PrimeLocate Gen 2 actively detects and transfers only those regions containing signal data, lowering data storage requirements for localization microscopy. Now in generation 2, the algorithm actively removes background static objects, ensuring that the transferred data only contains objects of interest.
- Live particle tracking2 detects and tracks moving particles live on the camera with live statistics. This allows the researcher to determine whether the particles are behaving as expected before time consuming data acquisition for post-processing tracking analysis.
New Sensor Variants: The Prime 95B is available with a choice of sensor variants, with options to optimize sensitivity in the blue (310-450 nm) and the UV (250-310 nm). This enables researchers using these difficult wavelengths to capture more photons than before, allowing them to reduce exposure times and increase speeds.
Software Support: The rapid adoption of the Prime 95B means it is now supported in a wide range of third-party software. A camera driver SDK is also available for developers. Local third-party software offices should be contacted for minimum version numbers, support and relevant information.
Shipping: All cameras in the Prime 95B Series are available now with Photometrics' standard two-week shipping guarantee.
