Phoenix Ancient Art and Hicham Aboutaam Will Be Exhibiting at Pad London Art + Design Fair
In the heart of Mayfair at Berkeley Square
NEW YORK, Sept. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- From Oct. 2 to 8, Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Gandharan antiquities will be side by side with modern art, art deco furniture and interior design at the renowned PAD London fair in Berkeley square (stand B18).
The interior of the stand was inspired by the luxury settings of Louis Vuitton and Cartier, with individually lit glass cabinetry displaying a collection of gold jewelry among Greek and Roman statues and statuettes. "This is our fourth time participating in the fair and each year we achieve something different and elegant that the visitors will remember," says Hicham Aboutaam, president of Electrum, the New York agent for Phoenix Ancient Art.
One of the highlights of the show is an Egyptian, New Kingdom painted linen square of Ta-Nedjem. He is clearly identified by the hieroglyphic inscription that reads "offering of everything that is good and pure for the spirit of Ta-Nedjem, just of voice." Ta-Nedjem means "the Gentle Country." These pieces of painted linen fabrics are extremely rare and belong to a body of work of which only about 20 surviving examples have been listed. This linen square can be related to three other fabrics, now housed in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in The Metropolitan Museum of Art and in the Louvre.
PAD LONDON Art + Design will be open at Berkeley Square, London from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Oct. 2-7, and 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Oct. 8, stand B18.
