AMSTERDAM, Oct. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- To further its ongoing mission to improve lives through meaningful innovation, Philips Sonicare, the power toothbrush brand most recommended by U.S. dentists and hygienists, is partnering with TED, the non-profit dedicated to ideas worth spreading. To kick off the partnership, Philips supported a specially curated evening of TED Talks at TED's new NYC headquarters on Wednesday, October 5. The event included a series of conversations about what drives us as people and how we can work to change and improve our behavior.
"At Philips, we seek partners who share our commitment to encourage positive behavior change for personal health and wellbeing," said Alexander Harris, Senior Marketing Director, Philips Oral Healthcare. "This passion to create meaningful innovation is the cornerstone of our latest oral healthcare proposition."
The partnership with TED was inspired by the launch of the power toothbrush brand's latest innovation, the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected. The product is designed to improve users' brushing habits by informing them about their current behaviors while arming them with tools to build a better oral care routine. Philips worked closely with dental professionals and consumers alike to create a product that helps achieve personal goals and milestones to better oral health.
"The features in the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected have been designed to support behavioral change through real-time tracking, measurement and corrective feedback," said Dr. Mark Aloia, Global Lead for Behavior Change at Philips, who will be leading a panel discussion at the annual TEDWomen conference on October 26-28 in San Francisco, CA. Philips Sonicare will serve as a partner of the overall conference as well as the panel discussion, where a select group of TEDWomen attendees will be challenged to continue the conversation around behavior change.
Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected features unique Smart Sensor technology that tracks location, scrubbing and pressure and uses Bluetooth® technology to sync data with the Philips Sonicare app. This creates a personalized 3D Mouth Map that identifies missed spots and guides proper brushing technique via real-time feedback to effectively reach more surfaces during each brushing session. The TouchUp feature prompts users to return to missed spots at the end of the two-minute brushing cycle, aiding users in achieving a precise clean every time.
Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected and the Philips Sonicare app (free in the Apple App store and Google Play) is available at major retailers for a suggested retail price of $199. The product will also be available with a specialized UV sanitizer to clean brush heads for $219.
