Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the most common form of sleep-disordered breathing, affecting approximately five to six percent of the adult population.(1) If left untreated, OSA can increase the risk of other serious chronic conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease. For the millions of sleep apnea sufferers who rely on continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) for uninterrupted breathing during sleep, a mask that fits properly can be the key to success. The treatment works by delivering a gentle flow of pressurized air through a mask to keep the airway open.
The smallest and lightest among leading traditional full-face masks, Amara fits 95 percent of patients' faces. All cushion sizes attach onto the same frame with a simple "click." With 60 percent fewer parts than the leading full-face mask, Amara is also easy to assemble, clean and maintain.
"Our portfolio of masks is designed for patient comfort and exceptional performance," said Tom Wagner, general manager, Patient Interface, Philips Home Healthcare Solutions. "Listening to caregivers and patients, we have developed a full-face mask that's visually appealing, simple to use and easy to live with. Amara delivers on all fronts."
Features like the fine-glide forehead adjuster, inlaid headgear tabs and talon clips ensure an easy, comfortable fit, while the quiet micro exhalation port redirects air away from a bed partner.
