Children's Hospital & Medical Center is the latest forward-thinking health system to partner with Philips on connected solutions, breaking down barriers to patient data
AMSTERDAM and OMAHA, Neb., Nov. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, and Children's Hospital & Medical Center of Omaha, one of U.S. News and World Report's Best Children's Hospitals for Cardiology and Heart Surgery, have signed a 10-year, strategic partnership to help drive innovation in pediatric care. Working together, Philips and Children's will look to identify opportunities to enhance the quality and cost effectiveness of patient services, including focusing on connected solutions in diagnostic imaging, patient monitoring, respiratory solutions and clinical informatics. Children's will look to standardize care across departments using Philips technologies, breaking down the barriers to patient data and clinical decision tools, for a better patient and employee experience across its organization.
Children's supports families from across a five-state region, providing care to nearly 150,000 children each year. With a shared commitment to patient care and clinical excellence, Philips and Children's will work to understand the health system's current and future technology needs, while developing innovative methods of enhancing patient outcomes and the patient experience, delivering on their joint mission to improve the lives of children. Through the strategic partnership, Philips and Children's will develop a technology plan that is intended to provide business stability and predictability, while providing Children's with access to Philips health technologies and services, as well as clinical education, IT integration and data analytics. Moreover, like other Philips long-term strategic partners, Children's will have access to global best practices and Philips innovations, clinical programs that extend access to care beyond the hospital and into the community.
"As the only full-service pediatric specialty health care center in Nebraska, we know that families from across the region are putting their trust in us," said Richard G. Azizkhan, M.D., president and CEO of Children's. "Partnering with Philips will help Children's continue to transform pediatric health care by leading in providing innovative, quality care. The partnership will help us deliver on our commitment to improve the life of every child by providing our staff with the clinical support tools and training that can drive a consistent patient experience, improve workflow throughout our network and help improve patient outcomes."
Children's is the latest forward-thinking healthcare network to extend their relationship with Philips, helping to address their technology needs, in order to better support their communities. Over the last few years, Philips had become the de facto leader in long-term strategic partnerships working with organizations such as Augusta University Health (15-year term), Westchester Medical Center Health (15-year), Mackenzie Health (18-year term), Marin General Hospital (15-year term) Medical University of South Carolina (8-year term), Banner Health (15-year term), Bon Secours Charity Health System (15-year), and Phoenix Children's Hospital (15-year) to help further care in their local communities. These partnerships underscore Philips' commitment to provide new solutions for hospitals and health systems, and highlight a growing trend towards strategic partnerships for creating long-term patient value.
"Philips and Children's Hospital & Medical Center share a common mission to improve children's lives by transforming how care is delivered, enhancing the patient and staff experience and improving health care for the communities we serve," said Brent Shafer, chief executive office of Philips North America. "Partnering will allow us to understand how we can help them further break down data silos, giving their staff access to information that can help them improve their already impressive level of patient care."
