BALTIMORE, June 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that Philip Burdette has been named Federal Security Director (FSD) for Baltimore Washington International/Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).

Burdette will be responsible for handling day-to-day operations of BWI as well as managing overall security of the airport. Burdette served as Deputy Federal Security Director beginning November 2008 and has been Acting Federal Security Director since February 2010.
Burdette joined TSA in 2003 and has held a number of critical security operations positions including Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Senior Advisor to the Security Operations Assistant Administrator, and Assistant General Manager of Security Operations. In 2006, Burdette was recognized as TSA's "Employee of the Year" and received the Department of Homeland Security's Award for Excellence for establishing an interagency security program targeting known vulnerabilities across transportation modes.

Prior to joining TSA, Burdette, a Baltimore native, served in the United States Marine Corps and was a Counterintelligence Investigator at the National Security Agency at Fort Meade, Maryland. Burdette holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Affairs from George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
