Philadelphia Phillies Rally with New EMC Corporation Partnership and Information Infrastructure
PHILADELPHIA and HOPKINTON, Mass., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Off to a great start in pursuit of their third straight National League pennant, the Phillies have added more to their 2010 roster than just the talent on the field. Among their new additions is a partnership with EMC Corporation, the world's leading information infrastructure solutions provider. Through this partnership, featuring the newly-named EMC Suite Level at Citizens Bank Park, EMC will continue to grow its business presence in Philadelphia and surrounding areas while helping the National League Champion Phillies manage and protect the digitized information that is critical to their baseball and business operations.
"We rely on having fast and reliable access to information for all aspects of our business from ticketing to player statistics to game-day video footage," said David Buck, Phillies' Senior Vice President, Marketing and Advertising Sales. "For years, EMC has developed innovative solutions that enable companies in Philadelphia and around the world to store, manage and protect the information they depend on for competitive advantage. We welcome EMC as a corporate partner at Citizens Bank Park and as the technological foundation of our information infrastructure."
EMC offers a broad portfolio of systems, software and services for organizations of all sizes to manage and secure their vast and ever-increasing quantities of digital information, automate their data center operations and leverage that information for business agility and competitive advantage. Together with the Phillies Information Technology group, EMC will replace the organization's existing infrastructure to support its mission-critical business, ticketing, email and business continuity applications. To accomplish this, the Phillies will implement an EMC® CLARiiON® network storage system, EMC MirrorView™ replication software and an EMC Data Domain® DD660 deduplication storage system to meet the Phillies' backup and archival storage needs while simplifying data management.
An EMC Celerra® NS-480 unified storage system will support the Phillies' Broadcasting and Video Service operations in the acquisition, distribution, and archiving of digital video assets throughout the season. Multiple user groups within the ballpark will benefit from the system including Video Production, PhanaVision, and Video Coaching. Additionally, an EMC Celerra NS-120 unified storage system will travel with the team and, using the video coaching BATS application, allow players and coaches to review their very last at-bats or pitching sequences, or years of historical matchups and competitors' performances to improve on the fly.
"Not only are the Phillies a talented, high-energy National League team aiming for their third straight World Series appearance, but they also are backed by a first-class, innovative management team off the field," said Jeremy Burton, EMC's Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. "By leveraging critical information in all aspects of their business, the Phillies are always improving their game and strengthening their competitive advantage. We're pleased to be a partner with this organization, to provide them with the most advanced information infrastructure solutions available, and for the people of EMC and our Philadelphia-area customers and partners to be able to enjoy more great baseball at Citizens Bank Park."
