Philadelphia-Area Children in Need to Receive Free Dental Care
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- United Concordia Dental, Transport Worker Union (TWU) Local 234 and Employee Benefits Consulting Services, Inc. will help provide free dental care to children in need Saturday, April 14, from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m.
"Today, more than a fourth of all children ages 2 to 5 and half of those ages 12 to 15 are affected by tooth decay," said James Bramson, D.D.S., chief dental officer for United Concordia Dental. "Tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood disease -- five times more common than asthma. That's why we are working with these partners to provide free dental care to children in need."
The free services include dental examinations, x-rays and cleanings from local volunteer dentists for children, ages 4 to 16, with little or no insurance. The children selected for care have been identified by TWU Local 234 and Employee Benefits Consulting Services as having little or no dental insurance coverage. The services will be offered at TWU Local 234's headquarters, 500 North Second Street.
"TWU 234 is pleased and excited to partner with United Concordia Dental and Employee Benefits Consulting Services in providing this dental screening for children in our community," said John Johnson, Jr., president, TWU Local 234. "We recognize how important healthy teeth are to a child's overall health."
