PGP Corporation Named 'Information Security Vendor of the Year' at SC Magazine Awards Europe 2010
Company also picks up Awards for "Best Innovation" and "Best Encryption Solution"
LONDON, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- PGP Corporation, a global leader in trusted data protection, today announced it has been named "Information Security Vendor of the Year" at the SC Magazine Awards Europe 2010. The company picked up a total of three awards, with PGP® Portable taking the Innovation Award and PGP® Whole Disk Encryption winning in the category of Best Encryption Solution.
The awards, held at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in London last night, were judged by the SC Magazine editorial team, as well a panel of senior ranking information security professionals from a wide range of industry sectors. As the European IT security industry's preeminent awards, the SC Awards showcase those solutions, services and professionals that are not just meeting the security challenges of today, but also the emerging threats of tomorrow.
"To be named vendor of the year at these prestigious awards is a tremendous honour for everyone who works at PGP Corporation, and we're equally delighted to receive recognition for two of our market-leading products, PGP® Whole Disk Encryption and PGP® Portable," said Phillip Dunkelberger, president and CEO of PGP Corporation. "Strong market demand, together with our recent acquisition of TC TrustCenter and its parent company, Chosen Security, has translated into a great start to 2010, and these three accolades really reinforce our position as the market leader for trusted data protection."
PGP Corporation picked up the Information Security Vendor of the Year award in recognition of its proven track record for developing innovative solutions, for its sustained growth and for its excellent customer service and support. The company's role in educating the market about the true financial impact of data breach incidents was also singled out for praise, as was CEO Phillip Dunkelberger's position as chairman of the CyberSecurity CxO Council of TechAmerica, which is advising both U.S. and European officials on how to prevent and legislate against data breach incidents.
PGP® Portable held off stiff competition from seven other shortlisted vendors to take the 2010 Innovation Award. Introduced to the market in July 2009, PGP® Portable offers a straightforward and cost effective way to protect the valuable data held on thumb drives and other removable storage, which is particularly vulnerable to theft or loss. Unlike other solutions, PGP® Portable allows Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS X users to access encrypted files without having to install any additional software, ensuring they can edit, share and distribute files as normal, without compromising security.
PGP® Whole Disk Encryption took the honours in the new category of Best Encryption Solution, for providing organisations with comprehensive, platform-independent, and high performance full disk encryption for all data stored on desktops, laptops and removable media. PGP® Whole Disk Encryption, which also won the equivalent accolade at the SC Magazine Reader Trust Awards in the U.S. earlier this year, can be used with PGP Universal™ Server to manage policies, users and keys, significantly expediting deployment and policy enforcement.
