PG&E Updates Community on Continued Recovery Efforts
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) issued the following update today on the progress of activities undertaken since the accident involving one of its pipelines in San Bruno.
PG&E continues to conduct meetings with cities, counties and numerous fire departments following the release of the 'Top 100' long-term preventive pipeline maintenance document on Monday. Most recently, PG&E has completed meetings with the City of San Bruno, the City and County of San Francisco, San Jose, and a majority of cities along the affected pipeline. In each of these meetings, PG&E is sharing detailed system maps and safety procedures with government leaders.
"We will continue meeting with every local government agency that wants information on our pipelines and we will provide them with this same level of transparency and detail," said Chris Johns, President of Pacific Gas and Electric Company. "We are giving local officials the opportunity to understand exactly where our gas transmission lines are located and answering any questions they might have about safety processes or the condition of our pipelines. In addition, we continue to meet with the first responders in these same areas to review our safety procedures around natural gas transmission."
Johns added, "Two weeks have passed since this devastating accident and there is a long road to recovery ahead. We will continue to stand by the citizens of San Bruno and the families affected by this tragedy as they recover and rebuild."
