"Roger's exceptional talents are proven by his outstanding track record at several of America's leading companies," Pruett said. "Beyond winning the admiration of his peers at those companies and in the business communications profession, he has earned the respect of reporters and editors, union officials and employees for his integrity and professionalism. He will make a great contribution to PG&E as we continue communicating our plans and progress to customers, employees, the media and other stakeholders."
At American Airlines, where he was Vice President, Corporate Communications, Frizzell was responsible for corporate communications, marketing communications, community citizenship, and the company's publications. Leading a staff of 130, he used communications programs to build employee engagement through periods of rapid and stressful change in the airline industry and to focus the entire organization on improving the customer experience.
Previously, Frizzell helped lead communications for Compaq Computer during its merger with and subsequent integration into Hewlett-Packard's $40 billion computer business. He also helped manage communications related to the spinoff of Lucent from AT&T and then directed communications internally and externally for Lucent's worldwide services and network products businesses.
An all-American wrestler at the University of Oklahoma, Frizzell gained newspaper writing and radio experience during his college years before starting his career in public relations at Western Electric, a division of AT&T. Over the span of his career, he and his teams have won more than 150 awards, including the National Golden Quill Award from the International Association of Business Communicators and PR Week's Corporate Public Relations Team of the Year.
"I'm excited to be joining the strong team at PG&E that is dedicated to getting this great utility back on track," Frizzell said. "I share the company's commitment to raising the bar on public safety and customer service, and look forward to communicating its great story."
