PG&E Convenes Leaders to Discuss Best-in-Industry Employee Training Programs to Help Ensure Safe Gas and Pipeline Operations
Partnership with The Mosaic Company helps benchmark best practices, identify opportunities for improvement and create open dialogue among industry players
HOUSTON, Feb. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), in partnership with The Mosaic Company, will co-host the Gas & Pipeline Industry Training Roundtable Feb. 5th and 6th in Houston. The forum is designed to share best practices in training and create a dialogue among industry leaders to better identify how gas and pipeline companies can enhance their training programs.
PG&E and The Mosaic Company created the two-day event to present findings from an industry-wide benchmark of gas training programs conducted by The Mosaic Company. The purpose of the exercise was to identify strengths in training and opportunities for improvement, and to share learnings so the industry can make sure that all gas and pipeline companies offer the most comprehensive and effective training programs possible for employees.
"PG&E is taking great steps so that all employees have access to best-in-class training across our vast service area," said Nick Stavropoulos, executive vice president of Gas Operations at PG&E, who will deliver the keynote address on the first evening of the event. "Ensuring the safe operation of our gas system is our most important obligation we have. Keeping our customers, employees, contractors and communities safe, hinges on having the most well-trained and competent workforce possible."
Enhanced training and continuing education opportunities are at the core of PG&E's goal of becoming the safest gas utility in the nation. By convening leading organizations across the gas and pipeline industries, PG&E and The Mosaic Company hope to initiate an even greater dialogue about the importance of growing and maintaining a highly skilled and engaged workforce.
"The Mosaic Company has built a great partnership with PG&E that will help to promote safe and reliable gas operations through excellent training," said Clint Morse, executive vice president and co-founder of The Mosaic Company. "This collaboration is special because together we are establishing benchmarks, tracking successes and making that data available across the gas and pipeline industries."
Twelve organizations are expected to be represented at the roundtable: Atmos Energy, Baltimore Gas and Electric, CenterPoint Energy Midstream, Dominion East Ohio, Enbridge Gas Distribution, Kinder Morgan, National Grid, NW Natural, San Diego Gas and Electric, Southern California Gas (Sempra), Spectra Energy and Southwest Gas.
