Peter Volanakis Elected to SPX Board of Directors
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SPX Corporation (NYSE: SPW) today announced that its directors have elected Peter Volanakis as an additional member to the SPX Corporation Board of Directors. Volanakis will stand for re-election at the company's 2012 Annual Meeting for a term expiring in 2013.
Volanakis is the retired President and Chief Operating Officer, and also a former director, of Corning Incorporated. Prior to his role as President, he held numerous positions at Corning, including President of Corning Technologies. Volanakis also served as a director of Dow Corning and as a trustee of the Corning Incorporated Foundation and the Corning Museum of Glass. He currently serves as a director of The Vanguard Group, as a director of Avantor, and as an overseer of the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.
