Peter van der Meer to Join Guggenheim Partners as Senior Managing Director

NEW YORK, April 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Guggenheim Partners, LLC today announced that Peter van der Meer will join Guggenheim Securities, the firm's investment banking and capital markets division, as Senior Managing Director and Head of Insurance Banking.  Peter is expected to start in his new role in mid-July. He is presently Senior Managing Director and Partner at FBR & Co. 

Mr. van der Meer brings to Guggenheim more than 30 years of experience in financial services, including 23 years as a trusted banker and advisor to the insurance industry. He has led various M&A transactions and capital raising activities for insurance companies both in the U.S. and abroad. Prior to joining FBR, Mr. van der Meer served as CEO and co-founder of ExClaim Technologies LLC, an electronic claim payment company serving the insurance industry.

Earlier in his career, Mr. van der Meer held senior-level positions at various investment banks including as Managing Director and Head of Non-Bank Financial Institutions at ABN AMRO North America Inc. He also served as a Senior Investment Banker at J.P. Morgan in New York, London, Madrid and Amsterdam, where he specialized in M&A, debt and equity capital markets, and structured products for the bank's insurance clients. During his 17-year tenure with J.P. Morgan, Mr. van der Meer worked on a wide range of transactions for global financial services companies.
